- USE: The Prostate Health Index (phi) is an FDA approved test that incorporates the results of three blood-test results- PSA, free PSA, and p2PSA. The p2PSA assay measures an isoform of free PSA that was identified as the most prostate cancer-specific form found in tumor extracts. Test results from PSA, free PSA and p2PSA are combined in the Beckman Coulter Access instrument to produce a single numerical value – the phi score – which can aid in distinguishing prostate cancer from benign prostatic conditions.
phi is intended for use as an aid in distinguishing prostate cancer from benign prostatic conditions in men-aged 50 years and older-who have total PSA levels between 1.6 and 7.8 ng/ml and digital rectal examination findings that are not suspicious for cancer. - TaT*: 1
